First Church of the Brethren

Outreach Opportunities

Our church financially supports several worthy projects, but we are always looking for more hands-on involvement with the local community.

We welcome your ideas for outreach. If you are from the community and have an idea for helping the less fortunate and would like to use our facility, please submit your idea to us. The parameters are:

  • You will organize and run the project.
  • We will provide space and a time slot for your project.
  • We may provide some volunteers from our church to participate in your project.
  • All projects ideas must be approved by our church board.
  • You will submit a working plan including space needed, time ..
  • We reserve the right to reject all project ideas without revealing the reason.

Sample Projects

  • Aid For Friends - We administered this project for ten years, where once a month our members would meet in the church kitchen and social hall and make hundreds of meals for Aid For Friends.  We would deliver the meals to their headquarters in Philadelphia, and they distributed them to need people.  We gave up the project last year when the organizers felt it was beyond their capabilities anymore due to age.
  • Support Groups - For LGBTQ students and families, suicide prevention or survivors, AA,  grief support, etc.
  • Elderly Activities.
  • Friday night coffee shop - For high school students as an alternative to less healthy alternatives.
